I will check out your blog...sounds cool.wcudmorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13398743400918368644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-92158483898306606642011-01-24T17:17:27.207-08:002011-01-24T17:17:27.207-08:00If you don't make mistakes then you never lear...If you don't make mistakes then you never learn. There is a natural tendancy to treat our artwork as if it's a jewel. We become timid at the thought of possibly making a mistake. I find this is especially true in printmaking. There are so many opportunities to mar a plate, stone, or block of wood. Don't worry about it. The more you do, the more you learn, the better you become. Before you know it you won't be thinking about the process, you'll be focused on content. Art should be fun at ALL times.

Also I've started a blog for the Monotype/Woodcut class I'm working with. Check it out: monotypewoodcut.blogspot.com

I'll be updating it once a week with assignments & hopefully some pics of their work.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07775161309150390541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-12844247394700278382011-01-20T08:19:29.795-08:002011-01-20T08:19:29.795-08:00I'm pretty fired up about the semester as well...I'm pretty fired up about the semester as well, Wende, and I don't think you're going to do anything stupid. Although sometimes when we do something stupid, something pretty cool might come out of it. I'm anxious to get into the multiple plate stuff with the advanced bunch, that should be lots of fun. And I especially like that we're all going to focus a bit more on the craft of our work, because once you appreciate that discipline, commitment, and dedication to your work, then when "craft" is not so important it doesn't just look sloppy or lazy any more.brian h. joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17010643686952897817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-68584102379647628812011-01-19T19:14:13.984-08:002011-01-19T19:14:13.984-08:00I am excited about this semester, and ready to lear...I am excited about this semester, and ready to learn lots of new "stuff" and perfecting things I have learned. I am also hopeing that I can push all of this info through to my long term memory (short term memory problem) where it will stay for ever!I am also nervous about doing something stupied...but I won't let that hold me back from doing some really well crafted work! ha! Or, you could talk up graduate school and the benefits, or the pitfalls. Miranda is considering graduate school and I'd like to encourage her as much as possible in that direction.

BTW, it was great seeing you at the MAPC conference back in the fall, are you planning on SGC?brian h. joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17010643686952897817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-22637795247142270802011-01-13T11:24:09.160-08:002011-01-13T11:24:09.160-08:00Yeah I'll see about coming down for that.

He also has a show up in one of our galleries (Jan 19- Feb 10). I believe the lecture is Feb. 2nd @ 5 or 6pm?

Teaching something would be fun. What do you guys want to learn??Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07775161309150390541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-17778105036186477042011-01-13T07:10:23.682-08:002011-01-13T07:10:23.682-08:00Gosh, I'm excited to see both of you visiting ...Gosh, I'm excited to see both of you visiting so early in the semester. Yes, class cancellation on Tuesday really did suck. I came in, got things ready for class, and then one too many snow flakes hit the parking lot. I could just see the all the administrators running around bumping into walls trying to figure out what to do.

Rob, we have Nicole Hand coming in April 10-12 to print a multiple plate color intaglio edition. Hope you can stop in for a visit. Or, better yet, how about coming in to teach us something this semester?brian h. joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17010643686952897817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7704520266715338734.post-64456344573790299532011-01-12T06:10:36.593-08:002011-01-12T06:10:36.593-08:00That sucks.
